The Sync browser app brings your business calls, voicemail, messages, contacts, Huddle video meetings, and account settings together in one workspace.
Notes and requirements
- You must have an active Sync account to access the browser app.
- When prompted, allow Sync to access your microphone and send browser notifications so you can place and receive calls.
- Available tabs, settings, and features depend on your organization’s services and your user permissions.

Understand the browser app layout
The Sync browser app uses three adaptable panes:
- The left navigation pane
- The middle workspace
- The right dialer pane
The panes may expand, collapse, or combine depending on what you are doing. For example, joining a Huddle video meeting expands the main workspace to provide a wider view.
Expand the main workspace

Left pane — Navigation menu
Use the left pane to access the main areas of the app. Depending on your app layout, the navigation icons may appear along the bottom or left side of the pane. Available areas include:
- Activity — View recent calls and voicemail.
- Calls — Access your call history and calling tools.
- Company — Send direct messages to coworkers and participate in internal Channels.
- Messages or Interactions — Send and receive external SMS or MMS messages, access Shared Inbox conversations, and transfer messages. If external messaging is not enabled for your organization, this tab will not appear.
- Contacts — Find and manage personal, company, and shared contacts.
Additional tabs may appear depending on your organization’s services and your permissions.

Middle pane — Main workspace
The middle pane is your primary workspace. Its contents change depending on the feature or conversation you select. From here, you can:
- View message conversations and call details.
- Listen to voicemail and review available call recordings.
- Start or join Huddle video meetings.
- Use quick actions to compose a message, start a Huddle, or make a call.
Click the keypad icon above the right dialer pane to collapse or reopen it. Collapsing the dialer gives the middle workspace more room.

Right pane — Dialer and calling tools
Use the right pane to:
- Open the dialpad and enter a phone number.
- Select an outbound caller ID, when available.
- Access recent calls and voicemail shortcuts.

Place and receive calls
Once you are signed in and have allowed microphone access, you can place and receive calls through the browser app.

Use either of the following methods:
- Click the dialpad icon in the top-right corner, enter a phone number, and start the call.
- Select a contact, then click the Call button in the middle workspace.

Incoming calls appear on your screen. Click the blue phone icon to answer or the red phone icon to decline the call.
Access voicemail
Open Activity to view and listen to voicemail. Voicemail messages appear alongside your other call activity.

Send and receive messages
Sync separates internal company conversations from messages sent through a business phone number:
- Open Company to send direct messages to coworkers or participate in internal Channels.
- Open Messages or Interactions to send and receive external SMS or MMS messages using your personal business number or an available Shared Inbox.
Start a conversation
To start an internal conversation, open Company, then select a coworker or Channel.
To start an external SMS or MMS conversation:
- Open Messages or Interactions.
- Click Compose New Message.
- Select a contact or enter a phone number.
- If prompted, select the personal or Shared Inbox number you want to send the message from.
- Enter your message, then click Send.

Start a Huddle video meeting
Huddle video conferencing is built into the Sync browser and desktop apps, allowing you to host meetings with coworkers and external participants.

- Schedule through your calendar — If your Google Calendar is connected, schedule a Huddle directly from your calendar.
